Welcome to South Seeds!

South Seeds is a community organisation based in Glasgow at Govanhill. We aim to work in partnership with residents and organisations within the local community to help improve the look and feel of the area. Under the climate challenge fund South Seeds are further developing the project to increase energy awareness and helping people learn more about growing food and reducing the amount of waste that we produce.

What we Do

South Seeds is involved in a wide variety of different activities all centred around the goals of tackling climate change, promoting energy efficiency and making the local community and beyond a better place. At the moment, our activities are geared towards one main project, but we will have more soon.

Climate Challenge Fund

The South Seeds board managed to secure funding from the Climate Challenge Fund for a project running from May 2011- 31st March 2012 which had been a great opportunity to help develop a new project working with the community in Govanhill and surrounding areas. The board managed to secure this funding with support of the Scottish Government and are passionate about helping people in the community to get involved.

We aim to support individuals and groups to ‘learn more while doing’ in key areas such as; saving money and energy at home and in community buildings, community and back court growing and composting as well as other key projects related to improving the environment with the community at the heart of the project.

The Climate Challenge fund is a great opportunity for South Seeds to work with local residents, schools, community groups and partner agencies to help increase the knowledge, skills and interest in energy awareness and efficiency, energy cost savings, community growing spaces and home composting.

Energy Efficiency – save money on your fuel bills and reduce CO2
